Safe Play Area

Bison 5-9/16" Steel Rectangle Mega Duty Playground Basketball Hoop System PR77

The Bison 5-9/16" Mega Duty Steel Rectangle Playground Basketball System PR77 is a permanent fixed height outdoor basketball system built around Bison's most popular rectangular playground backboard and the only basketball goal in the industry carrying an unconditional lifetime replacement warranty. The BA47 42" x 60" Ultimate rectangular steel backboard with heavy-duty 12 ga. skin, 7 ga. steel support structure, safety rolled edges, graffiti-resistant white powder coat finish, and regulation orange shooter's square is paired with the BA39U Ultimate playground goal on a BA780 Mega-Duty 5-9/16" O.D. hot dip galvanized steel gooseneck pipe buried 48" into the ground. A selectable 72" or 96" safe play area at checkout. No height adjustment. A fully specified, ready-to-install permanent outdoor basketball system backed by Lifetime limited warranties on both the pole structure and the backboard, and the first and still the only unconditional lifetime replacement warranty on a basketball goal.

BA47 Backboard: Bison's Most Popular Rectangular Playground Backboard

The defining component of the PR77 is the BA47 42" x 60" Ultimate rectangular steel backboard, which Bison confirms in its own product language as its most popular rectangular playground backboard. The BA47 is built from heavy-duty 12 ga. steel skin with a 7 ga. steel support structure behind it, a heavier gauge support than the skin itself, providing the structural rigidity that a permanent outdoor backboard on a public playground court demands across years of daily use. All edges on the BA47 are safety rolled, a treatment that simultaneously eliminates sharp edges for player safety and increases the strength and rigidity of the backboard perimeter. The graffiti-resistant white powder coat finish is applied across the full playing surface and is specifically formulated to resist the surface marking and tagging that outdoor public courts are routinely subjected to. The regulation orange shooter's square is clearly defined on the white surface for visual targeting during play. A standard 5" x 5" goal mounting hole pattern is built into the backboard, compatible with the BA39U Ultimate goal included with the PR77 and with most standard outdoor goal hardware. The BA47 delivers excellent rebound from a steel backboard surface. The BA47 carries a Lifetime limited warranty.

BA39U Ultimate Goal: The Only Unconditional Lifetime Replacement Warranty on a Basketball Goal

Every PR77 ships with Bison's BA39U Ultimate playground goal, carrying what Bison confirms as the first and still the only unconditional lifetime replacement warranty on a basketball goal. The BA39U is purpose-built for the toughest playground applications with a double 5/8" solid steel rim, 3/16" x 1" No-Fail netlocks that add strength to the goal and eliminate netlock breakage, and a 3/16" thick box-style backplate and rim supports. The traditional orange powder coated finish is baked on for durability. A premium nylon net and high tensile strength mounting hardware are included standard. The BA39U also accepts optional chain nets for courts where nylon net replacement frequency is a maintenance concern. On a permanently installed outdoor court where the goal absorbs the daily cumulative impact of playground use across the life of the installation, an unconditional lifetime replacement warranty on the goal is the strongest assurance available in the outdoor basketball industry.

BA780 Mega-Duty Gooseneck Pipe: Hot Dip Galvanized, 48" Bury

The PR77 is mounted on Bison's BA780 Mega-Duty 5-9/16" O.D. round steel gooseneck pipe with a hot dip galvanized coating. Hot dip galvanizing immerses the entire steel pipe in molten zinc, bonding a uniform protective layer to every surface inside and out. The result is long-term corrosion resistance specifically engineered for the outdoor exposure conditions of public parks, school yards, and recreational facilities where the system will be permanently installed across decades of weather and daily use. The pipe is buried a full 48" into the ground in a permanent concrete anchor, with heavy 1-5/8" backboard braces providing structural rigidity between the extension arm and the backboard mount. The BA780 pole structure carries a Lifetime limited warranty.

Choose Your Safe Play Area: 72" Standard or 96" Extended

The PR77 is available with a selectable safe play area at checkout. The standard configuration provides a 72" safe play area from the pole to the active playing zone. For courts where additional clearance beyond 72" is required by facility safety guidelines, site layout constraints, or institutional specifications, the 96" extended safe play area is available as a direct checkout option via the PR77XL configuration. Both configurations carry the full PR77 system specification; the only difference is the extension arm length between the pole and the backboard mount.

Safe play area note: Select the 96" safe play area option at checkout if your facility's safety guidelines or site layout require clearance beyond the standard 72". The extension arm length is set at the time of manufacture and cannot be changed after the pole is permanently buried in concrete. Contact our team if you are unsure which safe play area specification is right for your court.

Choose Your Configuration

Both configurations share the same BA780 hot dip galvanized gooseneck pipe, 48" in-ground bury, heavy 1-5/8" backboard braces, BA47 solid steel backboard with Lifetime limited warranty, BA39U Ultimate goal with unconditional lifetime replacement warranty, and truck shipping. The only difference is safe play area setback length.

PR77 — 72" Safe Play Area

42" x 60" Solid Steel
Hot Dip Galvanized Gooseneck

The standard PR77 configuration with a 72" safe play area. Full BA780 Mega-Duty gooseneck platform, 48" in-ground bury, BA47 solid steel backboard with Lifetime limited warranty, and BA39U Ultimate goal. Best for outdoor playground courts where 72" player clearance meets facility safety requirements and the standard configuration is the right fit for the court layout.

PR77XL — 96" Safe Play Area

42" x 60" Solid Steel
Hot Dip Galvanized Gooseneck

The extended PR77XL configuration with a 96" safe play area. Same full BA780 Mega-Duty gooseneck platform, 48" in-ground bury, BA47 solid steel backboard with Lifetime limited warranty, and BA39U Ultimate goal. Best for outdoor courts where facility safety standards, site layout, or institutional specifications require extended player clearance beyond the standard 72".

Optional Pole Padding: BA700PP

The PR77 is available with optional BA700PP pole padding as an add-on at the time of purchase. For public playground courts with active daily use by players of all ages, pole padding protects players from direct contact with the gooseneck pipe during live play. Ordering the BA700PP at the time of purchase is significantly easier than sourcing and fitting it after the system is permanently installed in concrete.

Padding recommendation: For any public playground installation we strongly recommend adding the BA700PP pole padding to your order. Pole contact during live play is common on outdoor courts and padding is the simplest, most effective way to reduce that risk from day one of the installation.
Installation note: The PR77 requires a permanent concrete anchor with the 5-9/16" gooseneck pipe buried 48" below the playing surface. At 450 lbs, professional installation with appropriate excavation equipment is strongly recommended. The full 48" bury depth must be achieved in properly prepared concrete for the system to perform as specified.

Warranty

The BA780 pole structure carries a Lifetime limited warranty. The BA47 solid steel backboard carries a Lifetime limited warranty. The BA39U Ultimate goal carries Bison's unconditional lifetime replacement warranty, the first and still the only warranty of its kind on a basketball goal. All limited warranties cover damage during normal and intended use as determined by Bison. The unconditional goal warranty removes the normal use limitation for the goal itself.  Bison residential basketball equipment is not warranted for commercial or institutional use. For facilities where players pay an individual or group fee to use the equipment, Bison products carry no warranty except for obvious manufacturing defects. Vandalism damage is excluded from all Bison warranty coverage. Contact our team before purchasing if your installation is for a pay-to-play facility.

Warranty

Lifetime limited warranty on wall mount structures.

All Bison products are warranted against manufacturing defects at the time of delivery. In addition, most products are covered by warranty periods stated in the description of the product. Where listed as “limited”, warranties cover damage or failure that occurs during the course of “normal or intended use” of the warranted product. Normal or intended use is described as activity that is necessary for the participation in the sport for which the equipment is designed.

Bison Limited Warranties do not cover any damage or failure that is the direct or indirect result of any use that is not deemed in the sole discretion of Bison to be “normal and intended use”. When warranties are stated as “unconditional” or “unconditional replacement”, the above stated limitations do not normally apply except in cases where damage was obviously the result of a malicious act of vandalism.

Where no specific length or type of warranty is listed in the catalog, the product is warranted to be free from manufacturer’s defects and for the intended purpose at the time of shipment. Whether or not stated as such, all Bison warranties allow Bison to repair or replace warranted products at Bison’s sole option. Normal deterioration of products due to weather, wear and tear, or other causes that do not affect functional use are not covered by Bison warranties, regardless of type of stated warranty.

All warranties are valid only when product is used in the intended application as outlined in Bison’s printed literature, when installed according to Bison’s instructions and when matched with compatible components as described in Bison’s literature. Under no circumstances will Bison Residential Basketball Equipment be warranted for commercial or institutional use.

Due to the abusive nature of pay-to-play facilities, unless specifically agreed to in writing, Bison products carry no warranty except for obvious manufacturing defects when used in a facility where players pay an individual or group fee to use Bison equipment.

Bison will pay ground freight only to repair or replace defective merchandise. Unless otherwise stated, Bison will not assume any liability for labor costs incurred for removal or replacement of product replaced or repaired under warranty.
