The Bison T-REX Competition Portable Basketball System BA898G delivers full FIBA approval, NCAA compliance, NFHS compliance, and a regulation 72" x 42" tempered glass backboard at the most accessible price point in the FIBA-certified T-REX lineup. It is a fixed height system set permanently at regulation 10 ft — the deliberate engineering choice that makes it the right system for dedicated competition courts, tournament facilities, and multi-court gyms where the rim height never changes and every court needs to be competition-certified without the cost of a height-adjustable system on each unit. It is the only FIBA-approved T-REX portable rated for both indoor and outdoor use. 16 padding colors available. Custom graphics available at checkout for an additional USD 500.00.
The BA898G is fixed at regulation 10 ft. There is no height adjustment mechanism. For dedicated competition courts where the rim never changes height, removing the adjustment mechanism means fewer moving parts, less maintenance, and a cleaner, more stable structure for serious competition play. The system still uses extension spring counterbalance technology for smooth, safe raising to playing position and lowering for storage — the fixed height simply eliminates the intermediate adjustment range. For facilities that need height adjustability for youth programs or multi-age use, the T-REX Americana or International series are the appropriate choice.
The BA898G carries FIBA international approval, NCAA compliance, and NFHS compliance, making every court outfitted with it officially certified for sanctioned play at every level of American basketball. It also meets ASTM F1616 portable basketball safety standards. For tournament directors, athletic directors, and facility managers who need to outfit multiple courts simultaneously — tournament floors, multi-court gyms, or practice facilities — the Competition makes it possible to certify every court at a legitimate competition level without the cost of a height-adjustable unit on each one.
The T-REX Competition is the only FIBA-approved T-REX portable rated for both indoor and outdoor use. This gives facilities the flexibility to deploy it on interior hardwood courts or exterior concrete surfaces depending on programming needs — without voiding the warranty or compromising certification. For facilities that host events in both indoor and outdoor environments, or need a certified system for outdoor competition courts, the BA898G is the only T-REX portable that covers both.
The backboard is a 72" x 42" tempered glass panel, the full NCAA and NFHS regulation size. The system ships with the BA3180S breakaway rim, rated for 230 lbs of force in compliance with NCAA standards. Backboard padding is included and available in 16 colors at checkout. The backboard delivers the same regulation playing experience as the higher-priced Americana and International series at a more accessible system price.
The Competition is built on the same proven T-REX platform used across the lineup. The 4" diameter steel upright and 4" square beam are paired with industry-leading extension spring counterbalance technology for smooth, safe raising and storage. All pivot points use zero-maintenance, self-lubricating bearings with chrome-plated steel pivot axles — no grease, no downtime, no service calls required. Beam padding is included standard. Front levelers are lead screw type.
The 1,000 lb ballast weight is housed inside a covered containment cell, keeping the base clean and professional in appearance for competition environments. A rear hold down and deadlock device are both included standard. The base color is bright white standard.
The system rolls on 6 total 8" x 2" wide casters (2 in front, 4 in rear) for easy repositioning by a single staff member. Narrow-profile uprights minimize visual interference for fans and media behind the baseline. The system rolls through any standard doorway of 84" or wider and stores at 76"(w) x 160"(l) x 78"(h) — a notably shorter stored length than the International and Americana series, making it easier to store multiple units in the same facility.
Base padding is available in 16 team colors at checkout: Black, Brown, Burnt Orange, Cardinal, Columbia Blue, Forest Green, Gold, Gray, Kelly Green, Maroon, Navy, Orange, Purple, Royal, Scarlet, and Vegas Gold. Backboard padding is available in 16 colors. Custom graphics on base and riser pads are available for an additional USD 500.00, selected at checkout. For tournament venues, branded athletic facilities, and school spirit environments, custom graphics are available on both the backboard padding and base padding.

All Bison products are warranted against manufacturing defects at the time of delivery. In addition, most products are covered by warranty periods stated in the description of the product. Where listed as “limited”, warranties cover damage or failure that occurs during the course of “normal or intended use” of the warranted product. Normal or intended use is described as activity that is necessary for the participation in the sport for which the equipment is designed.
Bison Limited Warranties do not cover any damage or failure that is the direct or indirect result of any use that is not deemed in the sole discretion of Bison to be “normal and intended use”. When warranties are stated as “unconditional” or “unconditional replacement”, the above stated limitations do not normally apply except in cases where damage was obviously the result of a malicious act of vandalism.
Where no specific length or type of warranty is listed in the catalog, the product is warranted to be free from manufacturer’s defects and for the intended purpose at the time of shipment. Whether or not stated as such, all Bison warranties allow Bison to repair or replace warranted products at Bison’s sole option. Normal deterioration of products due to weather, wear and tear, or other causes that do not affect functional use are not covered by Bison warranties, regardless of type of stated warranty.
All warranties are valid only when product is used in the intended application as outlined in Bison’s printed literature, when installed according to Bison’s instructions and when matched with compatible components as described in Bison’s literature. Under no circumstances will Bison Residential Basketball Equipment be warranted for commercial or institutional use.
Due to the abusive nature of pay-to-play facilities, unless specifically agreed to in writing, Bison products carry no warranty except for obvious manufacturing defects when used in a facility where players pay an individual or group fee to use Bison equipment.
Bison will pay ground freight only to repair or replace defective merchandise. Unless otherwise stated, Bison will not assume any liability for labor costs incurred for removal or replacement of product replaced or repaired under warranty.
No merchandise may be returned without prior authorization by calling 800-247-7668. Merchandise returned without a return authorization number will be held for no more than 10 days at which time all return credit is forfeited. All returns must be shipped prepaid (UPS, FedEx or truck only) to 1100 SW 6th Street, Lincoln NE 68522. DO NOT RETURN BY U.S. POSTAL SERVICE. Collect returns will not be accepted.
