Bison Ultimate HangTime Steel 6" Adjustable Basketball Hoop System PR98SHT

Backboard Width

Bison Ultimate HangTime Steel 6" Adjustable Basketball Hoop System PR98SHT

The Bison Ultimate HangTime Steel 6" Adjustable Basketball Hoop System is the institutional outdoor choice for courts where backboard durability is non-negotiable. A 42" x 60" or 42" x 72" steel backboard on the same 6" square heavy wall pole and EZ SwingUp ground-level installation base as the HangTime Clear system delivers playground-grade toughness in an adjustable rim height package. No glass to shatter. No polycarbonate to crack. Just a steel backboard built to absorb years of outdoor use in parks, schools, and recreational facilities without compromise.

Steel Backboard: The Indestructible Outdoor Choice

Where the HangTime Clear system gives buyers a choice between tempered glass and polycarbonate, the HangTime Steel makes a deliberate choice for the most demanding outdoor environments: steel. A steel backboard cannot shatter, crack, or delaminate. It does not degrade in UV exposure the way polycarbonate can over many years outdoors. It does not require replacement after an impact that would destroy a glass board. For parks, school courts, recreational centers, and any outdoor institutional facility that needs a backboard still performing ten years from now with minimal maintenance, steel is the right material choice. The HangTime Steel's backboards are 42" tall, a full 6" taller than the 36" backboards on the HangTime Clear system, providing a larger overall playing surface on both the 60" and 72" width options.

EZ SwingUp Base: Ground-Level Assembly, Swing Up, and Play

Like the HangTime Clear, the Steel system uses Bison's EZ SwingUp installation base. Every component including the pole, arm, steel backboard, and goal is assembled completely at ground level. When assembly is complete, the entire unit swings up into the vertical position and locks into the anchor base with four bolts. No wobbly ladders. No heavy lifting of a fully assembled unit into position. No contract installers or a crew of three to four adults required. At 525 lbs, the steel backboard system is meaningfully heavier than the Clear system's 475 lbs, making proper anchor preparation and ground-level assembly discipline essential before swinging the unit vertical.

6" Square Heavy Wall Steel Pole

The Steel system shares the same 6" square heavy wall steel pole with textured black powder coated finish used across the entire HangTime lineup. The pole system is engineered with a 56" safe play area clearance from pole to active playing zone, providing meaningful separation between the post and the court's active playing surface on every installation.

Heavy-Duty Right Angle Crank with Optional Height Lock

The Steel system uses the same heavy-duty right angle crank as the HangTime Clear, adjusting from 7'6" to regulation 10' with an easy-to-read height indicator showing the exact rim position at all times. The optional BALOCKHT HangTime rim height locking device locks the crank and prevents unauthorized height changes between supervised sessions. For outdoor parks and shared institutional courts where the rim height should stay set until a supervisor changes it, the BALOCKHT is a must. Outdoor Breakaway Goal Included Standard

Every HangTime Steel ships with an outdoor breakaway goal as standard. For facilities that prefer a fixed goal, Bison's Ultimate fixed goal (BA39U) may be substituted at no extra cost. On outdoor courts where fixed goals are preferred for long-term durability in high-traffic environments, this no-cost substitution makes it straightforward to configure the system for the facility's actual operating needs without a special order or an upcharge.

Choose Your Configuration

Both configurations share the same 6" square heavy wall steel pole, EZ SwingUp base, right angle crank, 56" safe play area, textured black powder coat finish, outdoor breakaway goal, and Bison Limited Warranty. The only difference is backboard width.

60" Steel

42" x 60" Steel

A 42" x 60" steel backboard on the full HangTime 6" pole platform. An indestructible outdoor backboard at an accessible price in the HangTime Steel lineup. Best for parks, school courts, and outdoor recreational facilities that want steel backboard durability on a mid-width configuration.

72" Steel

42" x 72" Steel

A full regulation-width 42" x 72" steel backboard on the HangTime 6" pole platform. Maximum backboard surface area with the indestructible outdoor durability of steel. Best for high-traffic outdoor courts, parks, and institutional facilities that need the largest available backboard on the most durable outdoor material.

Which width is right for your court? For most outdoor institutional courts where regulation play is the goal, the 72" steel delivers the full backboard surface area at a modest price step above the 60". For facilities where a slightly smaller footprint or budget is the deciding factor, the 60" steel delivers the same indestructible platform at a lower price. Contact our team for a recommendation.
Installation note: The HangTime Steel assembles at ground level before swinging into the vertical position and locking with four bolts. At 525 lbs, proper concrete anchor preparation is critical before beginning assembly. Professional installation is strongly recommended.

HangTime Steel vs. HangTime Clear

Both systems share the same 6" square heavy wall pole, EZ SwingUp base, right angle crank, 56" safe play area, height adjustment range, outdoor breakaway goal, and Bison Limited Warranty. The differences come down to backboard material, backboard height, and the number of available configurations.

  • Choose the HangTime Steel if your court needs the most durable outdoor backboard available with a 42" tall steel backboard on both width options. Steel is the right choice for parks, school courts, and shared outdoor facilities where glass or polycarbonate would be impractical, at risk of vandalism, or difficult to replace after damage.
  • Choose the HangTime Clear if you want a choice between tempered glass and unbreakable polycarbonate backboards, a 36" backboard height profile, and four configuration options across two materials. The Clear system is the right choice where glass performance or polycarbonate flexibility is preferred over the pure durability of steel.
  • Bottom line: Choose the Steel when the backboard must be indestructible and low-maintenance in a demanding outdoor environment. Choose the Clear when backboard material flexibility or glass performance is the priority.

Warranty

The HangTime Steel carries a Bison Limited Warranty covering damage or failure during normal and intended use of the system.

Important warranty note: Bison residential basketball equipment is not warranted for commercial or institutional use. For facilities where players pay an individual or group fee to use the equipment, Bison products carry no warranty except for obvious manufacturing defects. If your installation is for a pay-to-play facility, contact our team before purchasing to confirm the right system and warranty coverage for your application.

Warranty

All Bison products are warranted against manufacturing defects at the time of delivery. In addition, most products are covered by warranty periods stated in the description of the product. Where listed as “limited”, warranties cover damage or failure that occurs during the course of “normal or intended use” of the warranted product. Normal or intended use is described as activity that is necessary for the participation in the sport for which the equipment is designed.

Bison Limited Warranties do not cover any damage or failure that is the direct or indirect result of any use that is not deemed in the sole discretion of Bison to be “normal and intended use”. When warranties are stated as “unconditional” or “unconditional replacement”, the above stated limitations do not normally apply except in cases where damage was obviously the result of a malicious act of vandalism.

Where no specific length or type of warranty is listed in the catalog, the product is warranted to be free from manufacturer’s defects and for the intended purpose at the time of shipment. Whether or not stated as such, all Bison warranties allow Bison to repair or replace warranted products at Bison’s sole option. Normal deterioration of products due to weather, wear and tear, or other causes that do not affect functional use are not covered by Bison warranties, regardless of type of stated warranty.

All warranties are valid only when product is used in the intended application as outlined in Bison’s printed literature, when installed according to Bison’s instructions and when matched with compatible components as described in Bison’s literature. Under no circumstances will Bison Residential Basketball Equipment be warranted for commercial or institutional use.

Due to the abusive nature of pay-to-play facilities, unless specifically agreed to in writing, Bison products carry no warranty except for obvious manufacturing defects when used in a facility where players pay an individual or group fee to use Bison equipment.

Bison will pay ground freight only to repair or replace defective merchandise. Unless otherwise stated, Bison will not assume any liability for labor costs incurred for removal or replacement of product replaced or repaired under warranty.
