One Pole, Two Courts: The Double-Sided Advantage
The BA872 places a single 6" square 3/16" wall pole and extension arm between two adjacent courts, mounting a full-size steel backboard on each side. Where two separate single-sided systems would require two poles, two anchor excavations, two concrete pours, and twice the maintenance footprint, the BA872 accomplishes the same result from a single structural installation. For parks, school yards, recreational centers, and institutional facilities with two adjacent courts sharing a common baseline, the double-sided system is the most structurally efficient and cost-effective permanent solution available. 6" Square 3/16" Wall Pole and Extension Arm: 40" Ground Bury
The BA872's structural core is a 6" square 3/16" wall steel pole and extension arm buried a full 40" into the ground. The 6" square heavy wall spec is shared with Bison's HangTime lineup, but the 40" burial depth on the BA872 is specifically engineered for the additional lateral load that a double-sided backboard system places on a single pole. Both the pole and extension arm share the same 6" square 3/16" wall construction, giving the system structural consistency from ground level to the tip of the backboard mount. The black powder coated finish is applied to the pole for long-term outdoor weather resistance.
60" Setback for Maximum Player Safety
Every Bison Ultimate fixed height system, including the BA872, features a full 60" setback from the pole to the active playing zone. This is the same safe play area specification used across Bison's institutional outdoor lineup and provides meaningful clearance between the structural pole and the players driving toward the basket on both courts. For parks and institutional facilities with active daily use by players of all ages and skill levels, the 60" setback is a critical safety specification worth confirming before any in-ground installation.
Steel Backboards: White Powder Coat with Orange Shooter's Square
The BA872 is available with 42" x 60" or 42" x 72" white powder coated steel backboards, each featuring an orange shooter's square and border for clear visual targeting during play. Steel backboards are the correct choice for permanent outdoor installations on high-traffic courts where glass or polycarbonate would be impractical, at risk of vandalism, or difficult to service after damage. The white powder coat with orange markings delivers strong visual contrast for players under all outdoor lighting conditions and requires no maintenance beyond standard cleaning.
Ultimate Goal: Unconditional Lifetime Warranty
The goal on every BA872 carries Bison's unconditional lifetime warranty, the strongest goal warranty in the entire Bison product lineup. Where Bison's Limited Warranty covers damage during normal and intended use, the unconditional warranty removes the "normal use" limitation for the goal itself. For outdoor courts subject to the kind of heavy, daily, all-weather use that Bison describes as "the abuse common on today's playgrounds," an unconditional lifetime warranty on the goal is a meaningful real-world assurance that most competing systems simply cannot match.
Warranty clarification: The unconditional lifetime warranty applies specifically to the Ultimate goal. The pole, extension arm, and backboard are covered under Bison's standard warranty terms. Optional Backboard and Pole Padding
The BA872 offers optional backboard and pole paddingavailable as add-ons at the time of purchase. For parks and institutional facilities with active daily use by players of all ages, padding is a meaningful safety upgrade that protects players from direct contact with the pole and backboard edges during live play. Adding padding at the time of purchase is significantly easier than retrofitting after the system is permanently installed.
Padding recommendation: For any outdoor court with daily active use by youth players, we strongly recommend ordering backboard and pole padding at the time of purchase. The BA872 is a fixed permanent installation and adding padding after the concrete has cured is significantly more difficult than ordering it upfront.

At 800 lbs, this is the heaviest system in the Bison outdoor lineup and requires professional installation with appropriate excavation equipment. This is not a DIY installation.

Warranty
All Bison products are warranted against manufacturing defects at the time of delivery. In addition, most products are covered by warranty periods stated in the description of the product. Where listed as “limited”, warranties cover damage or failure that occurs during the course of “normal or intended use” of the warranted product. Normal or intended use is described as activity that is necessary for the participation in the sport for which the equipment is designed.
Bison Limited Warranties do not cover any damage or failure that is the direct or indirect result of any use that is not deemed in the sole discretion of Bison to be “normal and intended use”. When warranties are stated as “unconditional” or “unconditional replacement”, the above stated limitations do not normally apply except in cases where damage was obviously the result of a malicious act of vandalism.
Where no specific length or type of warranty is listed in the catalog, the product is warranted to be free from manufacturer’s defects and for the intended purpose at the time of shipment. Whether or not stated as such, all Bison warranties allow Bison to repair or replace warranted products at Bison’s sole option. Normal deterioration of products due to weather, wear and tear, or other causes that do not affect functional use are not covered by Bison warranties, regardless of type of stated warranty.
All warranties are valid only when product is used in the intended application as outlined in Bison’s printed literature, when installed according to Bison’s instructions and when matched with compatible components as described in Bison’s literature. Under no circumstances will Bison Residential Basketball Equipment be warranted for commercial or institutional use.
Due to the abusive nature of pay-to-play facilities, unless specifically agreed to in writing, Bison products carry no warranty except for obvious manufacturing defects when used in a facility where players pay an individual or group fee to use Bison equipment.
Bison will pay ground freight only to repair or replace defective merchandise. Unless otherwise stated, Bison will not assume any liability for labor costs incurred for removal or replacement of product replaced or repaired under warranty.
Return Policy
No merchandise may be returned without prior authorization by calling 800-247-7668. Merchandise returned without a return authorization number will be held for no more than 10 days at which time all return credit is forfeited. Upon receipt of request for return, an authorization number will be issued by Bison and must appear on all return shipping labels. All returns must be shipped prepaid (UPS, FedEx or truck only) to 1100 SW 6th Street, Lincoln NE 68522. DO NOT RETURN BY U.S. POSTAL SERVICE. Collect returns will not be accepted.
Credit for defective merchandise will be issued only when Bison Inc inspection department determines the merchandise to be covered by Bison Inc warranty. All salable merchandise returned is subject to a minimum 35% restocking charge and all freight costs with a minimum restocking charge of $100. Due to their custom design, scoring tables and wall padding are not returnable. Sports nets are not returnable once opened.
These conditions and terms supersede any that may appear on a purchase order. Possession of price list or catalog does not constitute an offer to sell.
