Want a backboard that is bulletproof? The PR18 is the answer. The Bison Ultimate Jr. Unbreakable Polycarbonate Playground System PR18 is a permanent fixed height outdoor system built on the same 5" square, 1/8" wall steel pole as the PR17, burying a full 36" into the ground, with a 4" square extension arm placing the backboard face approximately 36" from the front surface of the pole. The backboard is a 36" x 60" clear polycarbonate panel with a heavy aluminum frame and rear support structure. Polycarbonate is the material used in bulletproof windows. The system ships with a BA32 outdoor breakaway goal and premium nylon net.
The backboard on the PR18 is 1/2" thick clear polycarbonate, encased in a heavy aluminum frame with a rear support structure ensuring the system holds up even in the toughest outdoor conditions. Polycarbonate at this thickness is virtually unbreakable and fights off vandalism in a way that painted steel cannot. The material is transparent, which means the backboard will not peel, rust, or corrode regardless of weather exposure. The heavy aluminum frame is the same extruded aluminum profile used on Bison's premium competition glass backboards. The rim is direct mounted through the backboard into the 4" square extension arm, eliminating virtually all stress placed on the backboard during aggressive playground play. The backboard is additionally supported by the extension arm at the top.
The PR18 shares the same structural platform as the PR17. The 5" square, 1/8" wall powder coated steel pole buries a full 36" into the ground in a permanent concrete anchor. The 4" square extension arm places the backboard face approximately 36" from the front surface of the pole, providing a stable and rigid mount for the polycarbonate backboard. The direct-mount rim-through-backboard-into-arm design distributes impact loads into the arm structure rather than the backboard panel, which is the key reason the backboard holds up even under the most aggressive playground play.
Every PR18 ships with the BA32 outdoor breakaway goal and a premium nylon net included standard. The direct mount through the backboard into the extension arm routes rim impact loads into the arm structure rather than the polycarbonate panel itself.
The PR18 is available with optional BA870JRPP pole padding at the time of purchase. For any public playground installation we strongly recommend adding pole padding to your order. Fitting it after the system is permanently installed is significantly more difficult than ordering it upfront. Note that the PR18 uses the BA870JRPP padding part number, not the BA700PP used on Bison's gooseneck systems.
The PR18 system carries a 10-year limited warranty covering the system against damage during normal and intended use as determined by Bison. For facilities where players pay an individual or group fee to use the equipment, Bison products carry no warranty except for obvious manufacturing defects. Vandalism damage is excluded from all Bison warranty coverage.
Bison has been engineering sports equipment for courts, parks, and athletic facilities since 1985. The PR18 Ultimate Jr. system puts a clear, virtually unbreakable 1/2" thick polycarbonate backboard in a heavy aluminum frame on the same proven direct-mount platform as the PR17, at the most accessible price point in the Bison polycarbonate outdoor lineup. As an authorized Bison dealer, Top Sports Tech provides direct expert support, competitive pricing, and logistics coordination on every PR18 order. All Bison products are warranted against manufacturing defects at the time of delivery. In addition, most products are covered by warranty periods stated in the description of the product. Where listed as “limited”, warranties cover damage or failure that occurs during the course of “normal or intended use” of the warranted product. Normal or intended use is described as activity that is necessary for the participation in the sport for which the equipment is designed.
Bison Limited Warranties do not cover any damage or failure that is the direct or indirect result of any use that is not deemed in the sole discretion of Bison to be “normal and intended use”. When warranties are stated as “unconditional” or “unconditional replacement”, the above stated limitations do not normally apply except in cases where damage was obviously the result of a malicious act of vandalism.
Where no specific length or type of warranty is listed in the catalog, the product is warranted to be free from manufacturer’s defects and for the intended purpose at the time of shipment. Whether or not stated as such, all Bison warranties allow Bison to repair or replace warranted products at Bison’s sole option. Normal deterioration of products due to weather, wear and tear, or other causes that do not affect functional use are not covered by Bison warranties, regardless of type of stated warranty.
All warranties are valid only when product is used in the intended application as outlined in Bison’s printed literature, when installed according to Bison’s instructions and when matched with compatible components as described in Bison’s literature. Under no circumstances will Bison Residential Basketball Equipment be warranted for commercial or institutional use.
Due to the abusive nature of pay-to-play facilities, unless specifically agreed to in writing, Bison products carry no warranty except for obvious manufacturing defects when used in a facility where players pay an individual or group fee to use Bison equipment.
Bison will pay ground freight only to repair or replace defective merchandise. Unless otherwise stated, Bison will not assume any liability for labor costs incurred for removal or replacement of product replaced or repaired under warranty.
