The Bison 5-9/16" Mega Duty Steel Fan Playground Basketball System PR76 is a permanent fixed height outdoor basketball system built around the BA495 Dura Steel fan-shaped backboard and the only basketball goal in the industry carrying an unconditional lifetime replacement warranty. Bison describes the BA495 in their own words: steel and lots of it. The official size 39" x 54" fan-shaped steel backboard with 12 ga. skin, heavy-duty mounting support structure, graffiti-resistant white powder coat finish, and official orange border and shooter's square is paired with the BA39U Ultimate playground goal on a BA780 Mega-Duty 5-9/16" O.D. hot dip galvanized steel gooseneck pipe buried 48" into the ground with a fixed 72" safe play area. No height adjustment. A single fully specified configuration, ready to order.
The defining component of the PR76 is the BA495 39" x 54" Dura Steel fan-shaped backboard, which Bison confirms in its own product language as the heaviest backboard of its type. The fan shape is the classic outdoor playground basketball backboard profile, narrowing toward the bottom and widening toward the top, a design with decades of proven use on public parks and outdoor courts across the United States. The BA495 is built from heavy-duty 12 ga. steel skin with a heavy-duty mounting support structure behind it, providing the structural rigidity that a permanently installed public playground backboard demands across years of daily outdoor use. The superior front mount design with standard 20" x 35" fan-type backboard mounting holes and a 5" x 5" goal mounting hole pattern delivers clean, stable installation and compatibility with the BA39U Ultimate goal included with the PR76. The graffiti-resistant white powder coat finish is specifically formulated to resist the surface marking and tagging that public outdoor courts accumulate across the life of a permanent installation. The official orange border and shooter's square are clearly defined on the white surface for visual targeting during play. The BA495 carries a 10-year limited warranty.
The fan-shaped backboard is not simply a visual choice. It is the recognized standard outdoor playground basketball backboard profile across public parks, school yards, and recreational courts in the United States, a design that has earned its place through decades of proven performance in exactly the environments the PR76 is built for. For courts where the fan shape is the specified backboard type, whether by facility standards, institutional procurement guidelines, or community expectations for how an outdoor basketball court should look and function, the BA495 on the PR76 is the correct specification. Bison's decision to describe the BA495 as the heaviest backboard of its type reflects the structural engineering behind the 12 ga. steel skin and heavy-duty mounting support structure that separate the BA495 from lighter fan-type backboards on competing systems.
Every PR76 ships with Bison's BA39U Ultimate playground goal, carrying what Bison confirms as the first and still the only unconditional lifetime replacement warranty on a basketball goal. The BA39U is purpose-built for the toughest playground applications with a double 5/8" solid steel rim, 3/16" x 1" No-Fail netlocks that add strength to the goal and eliminate netlock breakage, and a 3/16" thick box-style backplate and rim supports. The traditional orange powder coated finish is baked on for durability. A premium nylon net and high tensile strength mounting hardware are included standard. The BA39U also accepts optional chain nets for courts where nylon net replacement frequency is a maintenance concern. On a permanently installed outdoor court where the goal absorbs the daily cumulative impact of playground use across the life of the installation, an unconditional lifetime replacement warranty on the goal is the strongest assurance available in the outdoor basketball industry.
The PR76 is mounted on Bison's BA780 Mega-Duty 5-9/16" O.D. round steel gooseneck pipe with a hot dip galvanized coating. Hot dip galvanizing immerses the entire steel pipe in molten zinc, bonding a uniform protective layer to every surface inside and out. The result is long-term corrosion resistance specifically engineered for the outdoor exposure conditions of public parks, school yards, and recreational facilities where the system will be permanently installed across decades of weather and daily use. The pipe is buried a full 48" into the ground in a permanent concrete anchor, with heavy 1-5/8" backboard braces providing structural rigidity between the extension arm and the backboard mount. A fixed 72" safe play area provides meaningful player clearance between the gooseneck pole and the active playing zone for every session on the court. The BA780 pole structure carries a Lifetime limited warranty.
The PR76 is available in a single configuration: a BA495 39" x 54" Dura Steel fan-shaped backboard on the BA780 Mega-Duty 5-9/16" O.D. hot dip galvanized gooseneck pipe with a 72" safe play area, 48" in-ground bury, heavy 1-5/8" backboard braces, and BA39U Ultimate goal included standard. There are no backboard size, shape, or safe play area choices to navigate. If the fan-shaped steel backboard specification and the Mega Duty gooseneck platform are the right fit for your court, the PR76 is a fully specified, ready-to-order system.

All Bison products are warranted against manufacturing defects at the time of delivery. In addition, most products are covered by warranty periods stated in the description of the product. Where listed as “limited”, warranties cover damage or failure that occurs during the course of “normal or intended use” of the warranted product. Normal or intended use is described as activity that is necessary for the participation in the sport for which the equipment is designed.
Bison Limited Warranties do not cover any damage or failure that is the direct or indirect result of any use that is not deemed in the sole discretion of Bison to be “normal and intended use”. When warranties are stated as “unconditional” or “unconditional replacement”, the above stated limitations do not normally apply except in cases where damage was obviously the result of a malicious act of vandalism.
Where no specific length or type of warranty is listed in the catalog, the product is warranted to be free from manufacturer’s defects and for the intended purpose at the time of shipment. Whether or not stated as such, all Bison warranties allow Bison to repair or replace warranted products at Bison’s sole option. Normal deterioration of products due to weather, wear and tear, or other causes that do not affect functional use are not covered by Bison warranties, regardless of type of stated warranty.
All warranties are valid only when product is used in the intended application as outlined in Bison’s printed literature, when installed according to Bison’s instructions and when matched with compatible components as described in Bison’s literature. Under no circumstances will Bison Residential Basketball Equipment be warranted for commercial or institutional use.
Due to the abusive nature of pay-to-play facilities, unless specifically agreed to in writing, Bison products carry no warranty except for obvious manufacturing defects when used in a facility where players pay an individual or group fee to use Bison equipment.
