Gymnasium Quality Backboard for Outdoor Courts
The BA873 uses a full regulation 42" x 72" backboard in either clear tempered glass or clear unbreakable polycarbonate. The glass backboard delivers the true rebound response, optical clarity, and playing feel that players experience on a gymnasium competition board, brought outdoors on a permanent installation that can absorb years of hard play. The polycarbonate backboard provides the same 42" x 72" regulation surface area in a material that cannot shatter, making it the right choice for outdoor courts where glass breakage from impacts, weather events, or vandalism is a meaningful concern. Both materials deliver the visual clarity of a clear backboard and the full playing surface of a regulation-width board, with no steel or acrylic compromise on rebound response or sight lines.
6" Square 3/16" Wall Pole: 40" Ground Bury
The BA873 is built on a 6" square 3/16" wall 2-piece pole and extension arm buried a full 40" into the ground for what Bison describes as incredible stability. The 6" square heavy wall spec is the same structural foundation used across the entire Bison Ultimate fixed height lineup, engineered specifically for the lateral load demands of a full 42" x 72" regulation backboard on an outdoor permanent installation. At 550 lbs, the BA873 is a serious permanent system that ships by truck and requires professional installation with proper concrete anchor preparation before assembly begins.
Choose Your Setback: 60" Standard or 72" Extended
The BA873 is the only system in the Bison Ultimate fixed height lineup covered so far that offers a selectable safe play area setback at the time of purchase. The standard configuration provides a 60" setback from the pole to the active playing zone. For courts where additional clearance between the pole and live play is required by facility standards, safety guidelines, or personal preference, the extended 72" setback option is available. Both setback lengths carry the same full system specification with the only difference being the extension arm length between the pole and the backboard mount.
Setback note: The 72" setback option is available as a selectable upgrade above. If your facility has specific safe play area requirements that exceed the standard 60" setback, select the 72" option before adding to cart. Changing the setback after installation is not straightforward on a permanently buried pole system.
Outdoor Breakaway Goal Included Standard
Every BA873 ships with an outdoor breakaway goal as standard. On Bison Ultimate systems with steel backboards, the fixed Ultimate goal is the standard inclusion. On the BA873 clear board system, the outdoor breakaway goal is standard across both glass and polycarbonate configurations, providing the rim protection that a premium glass or polycarbonate backboard investment demands across years of active outdoor play.
Unconditional Lifetime Warranty on the Ultimate Goal
The Ultimate goal on every BA873 carries Bison's unconditional lifetime warranty, the strongest goal warranty in the entire Bison lineup. Where Bison's Limited Warranty covers damage during normal and intended use, the unconditional warranty removes the normal use limitation on the goal itself. For a permanently installed outdoor system on a demanding court, an unconditional lifetime warranty on the goal is a meaningful long-term assurance that most competing systems at this price point cannot match.
Warranty clarification: The unconditional lifetime warranty applies specifically to the Ultimate goal. The pole, extension arm, and backboard are covered under Bison's standard warranty terms. Optional Backboard and Pole Padding
The BA873 offers optional backboard and pole padding available as add-ons at the time of purchase. For outdoor courts with active daily use by players of all ages, padding is a meaningful safety upgrade that protects players from direct contact with the pole and backboard edges during live play. Adding padding at the time of purchase is significantly easier than retrofitting after the pole is permanently set in concrete.

Warranty
All Bison products are warranted against manufacturing defects at the time of delivery. In addition, most products are covered by warranty periods stated in the description of the product. Where listed as “limited”, warranties cover damage or failure that occurs during the course of “normal or intended use” of the warranted product. Normal or intended use is described as activity that is necessary for the participation in the sport for which the equipment is designed.
Bison Limited Warranties do not cover any damage or failure that is the direct or indirect result of any use that is not deemed in the sole discretion of Bison to be “normal and intended use”. When warranties are stated as “unconditional” or “unconditional replacement”, the above stated limitations do not normally apply except in cases where damage was obviously the result of a malicious act of vandalism.
Where no specific length or type of warranty is listed in the catalog, the product is warranted to be free from manufacturer’s defects and for the intended purpose at the time of shipment. Whether or not stated as such, all Bison warranties allow Bison to repair or replace warranted products at Bison’s sole option. Normal deterioration of products due to weather, wear and tear, or other causes that do not affect functional use are not covered by Bison warranties, regardless of type of stated warranty.
All warranties are valid only when product is used in the intended application as outlined in Bison’s printed literature, when installed according to Bison’s instructions and when matched with compatible components as described in Bison’s literature. Under no circumstances will Bison Residential Basketball Equipment be warranted for commercial or institutional use.
Due to the abusive nature of pay-to-play facilities, unless specifically agreed to in writing, Bison products carry no warranty except for obvious manufacturing defects when used in a facility where players pay an individual or group fee to use Bison equipment.
Bison will pay ground freight only to repair or replace defective merchandise. Unless otherwise stated, Bison will not assume any liability for labor costs incurred for removal or replacement of product replaced or repaired under warranty.
Return Policy
No merchandise may be returned without prior authorization by calling 800-247-7668. Merchandise returned without a return authorization number will be held for no more than 10 days at which time all return credit is forfeited. Upon receipt of request for return, an authorization number will be issued by Bison and must appear on all return shipping labels. All returns must be shipped prepaid (UPS, FedEx or truck only) to 1100 SW 6th Street, Lincoln NE 68522. DO NOT RETURN BY U.S. POSTAL SERVICE. Collect returns will not be accepted.
Credit for defective merchandise will be issued only when Bison Inc inspection department determines the merchandise to be covered by Bison Inc warranty. All salable merchandise returned is subject to a minimum 35% restocking charge and all freight costs with a minimum restocking charge of $100. Due to their custom design, scoring tables and wall padding are not returnable. Sports nets are not returnable once opened.
These conditions and terms supersede any that may appear on a purchase order. Possession of price list or catalog does not constitute an offer to sell.
