The Bison 5-9/16" Mega Duty 42" x 72" Steel Rectangular Playground Basketball System PR87 is a permanent fixed height outdoor basketball system built on Bison's most popular steel backboard and the only basketball goal in the industry carrying an unconditional lifetime replacement warranty. The BA472 42" x 72" solid steel backboard with heavy-duty 12 ga. skin, 7 ga. steel support structure, safety rolled edges, and regulation orange shooter's square is paired with the BA39U Ultimate playground goal on a BA780 Mega-Duty 5-9/16" O.D. hot dip galvanized steel gooseneck pipe buried 48" into the ground. A selectable 72" or 96" safe play area at checkout. No height adjustment. A structurally complete, purpose-built outdoor basketball installation backed by a Lifetime limited warranty on the backboard and the first and still the only unconditional lifetime replacement warranty on a basketball goal.
The defining component of the PR87 is the BA472 42" x 72" solid steel backboard, which Bison describes as its most popular steel backboard, now available in the official 42" x 72" size. The BA472 is built from heavy-duty 12 ga. steel skin with a 7 ga. steel support structure behind it, a heavier gauge support than the skin itself, providing the structural rigidity that a full regulation-size outdoor backboard on a permanent playground installation demands. All edges on the BA472 are safety rolled, a treatment that simultaneously eliminates sharp edges for player safety and increases the strength and rigidity of the backboard perimeter. The regulation orange shooter's square is applied in a durable white powder coated finish for clear visual targeting during play. A standard 5" x 4" goal mounting hole pattern is built into the backboard, compatible with the BA39U Ultimate goal included with the PR87 and with most other Bison and standard outdoor goal hardware. The BA472 backboard carries a Lifetime limited warranty when included in a complete Bison system.
Every PR87 ships with Bison's BA39U Ultimate playground goal, carrying what Bison confirms as the first and still the only unconditional lifetime replacement warranty on a basketball goal. The BA39U is purpose-built for the toughest playground applications with a double 5/8" solid steel rim, 3/16" x 1" No-Fail netlocks that add strength to the goal and eliminate netlock breakage, and a 3/16" thick box-style backplate and rim supports. The traditional orange powder coated finish is baked on for durability. A premium nylon net and high tensile strength mounting hardware are included standard. The BA39U also accepts optional chain nets for courts where nylon net replacement frequency is a maintenance concern. On a permanently installed outdoor court where the goal absorbs the daily cumulative impact of playground use across the life of the installation, an unconditional lifetime replacement warranty on the goal is the strongest assurance available in the outdoor basketball industry.
The PR87 is mounted on Bison's BA780 Mega-Duty 5-9/16" O.D. round steel gooseneck pipe with a hot dip galvanized coating. Hot dip galvanizing immerses the entire steel pipe in molten zinc, bonding a uniform protective layer to every surface inside and out. The result is long-term corrosion resistance that is specifically engineered for the outdoor exposure conditions of public parks, school yards, and recreational facilities where the system will be permanently installed across decades of weather and daily use. The pipe is buried a full 48" into the ground in a permanent concrete anchor, with heavy 1-5/8" backboard braces providing structural rigidity between the extension arm and the backboard mount. The BA780 pole structure carries a Lifetime limited warranty.
The PR87 is available with a selectable safe play area at checkout. The standard configuration provides a 72" safe play area from the pole to the active playing zone. For courts where additional clearance beyond 72" is required by facility safety guidelines, site layout constraints, or institutional specifications, the 96" extended safe play area is available as a direct checkout option via the PR87XL configuration. Both configurations carry the full PR87 system specification; the only difference is the extension arm length between the pole and the backboard mount.
Both configurations share the same BA780 hot dip galvanized gooseneck pipe, 48" in-ground bury, heavy 1-5/8" backboard braces, BA472 solid steel backboard with Lifetime limited warranty, BA39U Ultimate goal with unconditional lifetime replacement warranty, and truck shipping. The only difference is safe play area setback length.
The standard PR87 configuration with a 72" safe play area. Full BA780 Mega-Duty gooseneck platform, 48" in-ground bury, BA472 solid steel backboard with Lifetime limited warranty, and BA39U Ultimate goal. Best for outdoor playground courts where 72" player clearance meets facility safety requirements and the standard configuration is the right fit for the court layout.
The extended PR87XL configuration with a 96" safe play area. Same full BA780 Mega-Duty gooseneck platform, 48" in-ground bury, BA472 solid steel backboard with Lifetime limited warranty, and BA39U Ultimate goal. Best for outdoor courts where facility safety standards, site layout, or institutional specifications require extended player clearance beyond the standard 72".
The PR87 is available with optional BA700PP pole padding as an add-on at the time of purchase. For public playground courts with active daily use by players of all ages, pole padding protects players from direct contact with the gooseneck pipe during live play. Ordering the BA700PP at the time of purchase is significantly easier than sourcing and fitting it after the system is permanently installed in concrete.
The BA780 pole structure carries a Lifetime limited warranty. The BA472 solid steel backboard carries a Lifetime limited warranty when included in a complete Bison system. The BA39U Ultimate goal carries Bison's unconditional lifetime replacement warranty, the first and still the only warranty of its kind on a basketball goal. All limited warranties cover damage during normal and intended use as determined by Bison. The unconditional goal warranty removes the normal use limitation for the goal itself. Bison residential basketball equipment is not warranted for commercial or institutional use. For facilities where players pay an individual or group fee to use the equipment, Bison products carry no warranty except for obvious manufacturing defects. Vandalism damage is excluded from all Bison warranty coverage. Contact our team before purchasing if your installation is for a pay-to-play facility.

Lifetime limited warranty on wall mount structures.
All Bison products are warranted against manufacturing defects at the time of delivery. In addition, most products are covered by warranty periods stated in the description of the product. Where listed as “limited”, warranties cover damage or failure that occurs during the course of “normal or intended use” of the warranted product. Normal or intended use is described as activity that is necessary for the participation in the sport for which the equipment is designed.
Bison Limited Warranties do not cover any damage or failure that is the direct or indirect result of any use that is not deemed in the sole discretion of Bison to be “normal and intended use”. When warranties are stated as “unconditional” or “unconditional replacement”, the above stated limitations do not normally apply except in cases where damage was obviously the result of a malicious act of vandalism.
Where no specific length or type of warranty is listed in the catalog, the product is warranted to be free from manufacturer’s defects and for the intended purpose at the time of shipment. Whether or not stated as such, all Bison warranties allow Bison to repair or replace warranted products at Bison’s sole option. Normal deterioration of products due to weather, wear and tear, or other causes that do not affect functional use are not covered by Bison warranties, regardless of type of stated warranty.
All warranties are valid only when product is used in the intended application as outlined in Bison’s printed literature, when installed according to Bison’s instructions and when matched with compatible components as described in Bison’s literature. Under no circumstances will Bison Residential Basketball Equipment be warranted for commercial or institutional use.
Due to the abusive nature of pay-to-play facilities, unless specifically agreed to in writing, Bison products carry no warranty except for obvious manufacturing defects when used in a facility where players pay an individual or group fee to use Bison equipment.
Bison will pay ground freight only to repair or replace defective merchandise. Unless otherwise stated, Bison will not assume any liability for labor costs incurred for removal or replacement of product replaced or repaired under warranty.

Merchandise returned without a return authorization number will be held for no more than 10 days at which time all return credit is forfeited. All returns must be shipped prepaid (UPS, FedEx or truck only) to 1100 SW 6th Street, Lincoln NE 68522. DO NOT RETURN BY U.S. POSTAL SERVICE. Collect returns will not be accepted.

All salable merchandise returned is subject to a minimum 35% restocking charge and all freight costs with a minimum restocking charge of $100. Due to their custom design, scoring tables and wall padding are not returnable. Sports nets are not returnable once opened.
These conditions and terms supersede any that may appear on a purchase order. Possession of price list or catalog does not constitute an offer to sell.
